size of "Recover Deleted items"
Hi,is there a limit of max item count or max volume size for deleted items stored within "recover delted items" area ? I only know of the retention time settings before deleted items do get removed from the store.Reason asking - in a migration scenario we test-migrated the content of mailboxes to Exchange 2007 (from GroupWise) and before the actual migration will happen, we would like to empty the Exchange 2007 mailboxes. Doing so by using the cmdlet "export-mailbox -ide UserA -DeleteContent -Confirm:$False" does fail on some mailboxes with the error -1056749164 (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd285510.aspx). We assume that it is caused by the "storage area" for deleted items is reached because of the fact that connecting to UserA mailbox using Outlook - open "Recover Deleted Items" - delete all items and running export-mailbox again will run fine.Other option would be to tell export-mailbox cmdlet to permanently delete items from to store but I couldn'tfind an option for that.I hope I've been able to describe in an understandingly wayAndreas

I don't think we have any limit on "Recover Deleted Items" retention period. Personally I have seen ~200GB of mails in "Total Size of Recoverable Items" perfmon counter in Exchange 2003 for single mailbox [yes mailbox, only one mailbox was there on that databse :) ]... If you have large number of emails in the mailbox, more than 4000 items, then it will fail to delete with this error -1056749164. Check Xiu's response in below similar thread.... http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/e73e678c-7c11-4de3-b89e-aae9223a64d7 Also make sure that you are using current Update Rollup on Exchange server and on the 32bit client where you install EMC.
